WBC Extra Long 4340 Steel Connecting Rod - Triumph GT6

$299.95

Triumph's component modularity across its engine range was great from a mass manufacturing point of view.  It meant the same connecting rod could be used in a Spitfire, as was used in a GT6 engine, as was used in the TR6 engine.  Triumph would then alter the piston compression height to make accommodations for the various dimensional differences that would come from the different crankshaft strokes mated with the same length connecting rod.

For the short stroke GT6 engine, this unfortunately meant Triumph ended up using a very tall piston compression height to get all of the parts of the assembly to properly fit the block.  This tall compression height adds a significant amount of unnecessary mass to the piston, while also making the piston less stable in the bore, and providing more power-sapping and wear-inducing piston skirt friction.

For high performance purposes, the rod length in the GT6 engine can be increased.  We increased the length of our standard 4340 steel by 0.250" (6.35mm).  This allows a piston to be spec'd that is very similar in dimension to the shorter Triumph TR6 piston, allowing for a much lighter piston assembly.  This long rod and piston combination will be more stable in its bore (less piston side to side rock), and will operate with lower friction due to the reduction in excess piston skirt area.

The weight of our 4340 XL rod for Triumph GT6 use is 478g.  As with all of our rods, we use a very high strength 5/16" ARP CustomAge 625+ rod bolt that vastly exceeds the strength of the 1/4" bolt found in Carrillo GT6/TR6 rods.

Priced individually, but only sold in weight matched sets of 6.  Currently, all of our Extra Long rods are produced to order, please allow about 6-8 weeks for production time.
